Mobile Endoscopy
InHealth is the only provider in the UK to provide fully staffed, equipped, CQC registered endoscopy mobile units, a number of which are JAG accredited
Why an InHealth mobile unit?
A mobile endoscopy unit provides additional endoscopy capacity to support waiting lists. It is also perfect for supporting hospitals during periods of unit refurbishments or equipment upgrades
How does an InHealth mobile endoscopy room differ from a normal endoscopy room?
The mobile unit is constructed to the same Hospital Building Notes and Hospital Technical Memoranda as a normal endoscopy suite would be. The units are equipped with sophisticated systems to ensure the correct number of air changes and decontamination of endoscopes. The units are also enabled with 4G connectivity and/or fibre access to existing IT networks meaning that clinical reports can be produced and uploaded on-site to existing patient administration systems.
How does it compare to insourcing staff?
We’re here to manage the pathway from “end to end”. Depending on what you need, we can:
- provide booking services from our 150-strong booking centre
- provide high-quality endoscopic equipment
- provide the endoscopists and nursing teams to perform the procedures
- provide our own pathology service and follow up on any histology reporting
Service quality
We’re serious about the quality of the service we deliver.
You can rest assured that our mobile endoscopy services are registered with and inspected by the Care Quality Commission.
In addition to that, from day one of service delivery, our services will work to JAG standards and collate the necessary data in order to obtain JAG accreditation. Find out more about JAG accredited services here.
As part of our service offering, we’ll provide you with a monthly quality pack which will enable you to keep tabs on a whole range of indicators such as Friends and Family Test results, DNAs, Cancellations and Endoscopist KPIs.
Mobile decontamination
Along with the mobile endoscopy units, we’re able to provide a fully compliant mobile decontamination facility.
Our decontamination solutions can be integrated within the mobile endoscopy unit or standalone. The decontamination units are fully functioning and meet the stringent quality standards required for reprocessing endoscopes.

All-inclusive, expandable units
We are thrilled to introduce the UK’s first all-inclusive, expandable, mobile endoscopy suite into the InHealth fleet, as part of a unique collaboration with Expandable Healthcare.
The 18-metre long facility boasts hydraulic capability, including a full-length slide-out, allowing the unit to be lowered into position without the need for a crane to deliver all the benefits of a traditional mobile unit at ground level.
The self-contained facility includes a dedicated reception area, state-of-the-art procedure room, recovery rooms and decontamination and water treatment rooms.
Patients can access endoscopy services outside of hospital settings, in fantastic facilities that use the latest technology, which are designed around providing a positive and seamless patient experience.

Urgent Referral Service
InHealth has been commissioned by Oxfordshire CCG to provide a 2ww direct access contract – the first independent provider to do so in the UK.
We understand the importance of speed of access when it comes to the 2-week wait pathway, which is why we provide access to colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy and gastroscopy within 10 days of GP referral.
We have developed tools to plan capacity in order to meet the waiting time targets and are fully conversant with national cancer waiting times (CWT) submissions.
Contact us for more information about our urgent referral service.
Bowel Screening
Providing services across a range of Static and Mobile settings, InHealth is a community provider of JAG accredited and CQC registered Endoscopy services. As part of this service, we provide Bowel Screening Colonoscopy and Bowel Scope.
Two of the salient challenges to Screening providers are physical infrastructure enabling providers to create the capacity to perform the procedures and accredited Screening Endoscopists. InHealth can help with both aspects.
With capacity available in both community-based static units as well as a growing fleet of mobile Endoscopy units we can provide capacity for both the short and long term.
We pride ourselves on offering an “end to end” service (booking to reporting) and fully staffed with access to accredited Endoscopists to perform screening procedures. Our services can be performed as stand-alone screening or as part of a wider Endoscopy offering.
Innovative Endoscopy
Introducing Transnasal Gastroscopy
As a default, the vast majority of our gastroscopy procedures are performed with a super-thin transnasal scope. Using high-quality endoscopic equipment minimises the need for patients to have sedation and, as a result, will often see more procedures successfully completed vs. the traditional method of the oral route. The oral route is more uncomfortable for the patient due to the gag reflex, further demonstrating the benefits of our superior and more comfortable method.

Quality assured endoscopy
We’re serious about quality. We have multiple sites within the service that are accredited by the Joint Advisory Group on GI Endoscopy (JAG).
InHealth is CQC registered and is rated “Good” overall across all of our services and “Outstanding” for our mobile and peripatetic services in a recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection.
